AJOKKI is a musical project of Alexander Pustynsky (Krasnoyarsk), in which he works on various ways to generate, manipulate and process sounds, pushing beyond the limits of his own experience.

Sasha got his first sound recording experience at 12 when he started experimenting with a primitive microphone and the Sound Recorder program for Windows 95.

In high school, due to his discovery of the Fruity Loops 4 program, Sasha had a breakthrough in producing music that resulted in him being plunged headlong into the process for years. Then there was participation in a nu metal group as a drummer, after the collapse of which Sasha formed the indietronica band Эхолов (Eholow). This period passed under the sign of the fundamental rejection of using a computer to create electronic music and emphasising hypnagogic sound at the same time. After a while, the band also broke up, and the focus of Sasha's interest shifted from structured music towards freer forms. First, there was a refusal to divide a composition into parts, and then the rhythmic grid was also abandoned. Finally, the improvisational approach and the experience of live performances led him to his freedom from the same type of learned movements. After that, the set of techniques for working with sound was replenished with non-standard methods of sound extraction, experimental processing methods and the use of audio materials of very different origins. As Sasha admits, sometimes there comes a moment when he gets tired of the known to him ways of producing music and is forced to look for new approaches so as not to lose his craving for the process, because he can no longer imagine himself without music.

A few words from Alexander about the album.
<<It all started when my colleague at the Institute of Computational Modeling gifted me with his family audio collection - two rather heavy boxes with unmarked cassettes. Among the recordings, there was pop music, rare performances of orchestras and bards rerecorded from vinyl, as well as several performances, the origin of which is difficult to determine. From time to time I took different samples from the collection to add a bit extra to my compositions, but this time I wanted to make an album with the cassettes being the only source material. The technical idea was to find a suitable piece of music and, using granular synthesis, stretch it in such a way that the result would be a living, constantly and randomly changing sound canvas, homogeneous, yet without repetitions.

As for the meanings, the album speaks of the ideas of hauntology - the feeling of deja vu, the traumatic experience of false memories, and the cancellation of the future.

The archive of old cassettes that ended up in my hands by chance, which I randomly turned to while working on the album, has eventually become my memory.>>

AJOKKI - музыкальный проект Александра Пустынского (г. Красноярск), в рамках которого он работает над самыми разными способами генерации, манипуляции и упорядочивания звуков, время от времени раздвигая границы собственного опыта.

Свой первый опыт звукозаписи Саша получил в возрасте 12 лет, когда начал экспериментировать с простейшим микрофоном и программой “Звукозапись” для Windows 95.

В старших классах школы, у Саши случился рывок в продюсировании благодаря знакомству с программой Fruity Loops 4, на долгие годы забравшей его с головой. Затем было участие в ню-метал группе в роли ударника, после распада которой Саша собрал индитроник группу Эхолов. Этот период прошёл под знаком принципиального отказа от участия компьютера в создании электронной музыки, а так же упор на гипнагогическое звучание. Со временем и эта группа распалась, а фокус интереса со структурированной музыки сместился в сторону более свободных форм: сперва произошел отказ от деления композиции на части, а затем отвалилась и ритмическая сетка. Благодаря импровизационному подходу, параллельно расширялся и опыт живых выступлений, освобождая от однотипных заученных движений. А набор техник работы со звуком пополнялся нестандартными способами звукоизвлечения, экспериментальными методами обработки и использованием аудио-материалов самого разного происхождения. Как признается Саша, периодически наступает момент, когда он устает от привычных способов производства музыки и вынужден искать новые подходы, чтобы не потерять тягу к ней, ведь без музыки он уже не представляет себя.

Несколько слов об альбоме от Александра.
<<Началось всё с того, что мой коллега по работе в институте вычислительного моделирования подарил мне свою семейную аудио-коллекцию - две довольно увесистых коробки с кассетами без опознавательных знаков. Среди записей встречались эстрада, переписанные с винила раритетные исполнения оркестров и бардов, а так же несколько исполнений, историю которых сложно определить. Время от времени я брал из этой коллекции различные куски, что бы дополнять ими свои композиции, но в этот раз я захотел сделать альбом, исходным материалом для которого будут служить только эти кассеты. Техническая идея заключалась в том, что бы найти подходящий музыкальный отрезок и с помощью гранулярного синтеза растянуть его во времени таким образом, что бы в результате получить живое, постоянно и беспорядочно меняющееся звуковое полотно, гомогенное, но не имеющее повторений.

Что же касается области смыслов, то альбом обращается к идеям призракологии - ощущению дежавю, травмирующему опыту ложных воспоминаний, отмене будущего.

Случайно попавший ко мне архив старых кассет, к которому в процессе работы над альбомом я обращался в случайном порядке, в итоге стал моим собственным воспоминанием.>>
