(Melody) is a collaborative album by electronic musicians Egor Klochikhin aka Foresteppe and Kirill Mazhai. Egor has long wanted to produce a record where a long loop does not stratify into unrecognizable sounds but, on the contrary, gradually emerges from noises as a clear melodic fragment. Returning from his military conscription in 2018, he realized that the time had come to implement this idea: after a year of service, he needed a (re)assembly. He immediately decided that the future album would become a joint project: friends supported Egor during his duty and it was also them who helped him return to normal life. So he created «Мелодия» in collaboration with one — Kirill, an old friend from Minsk.
Egor previously already released an album «Karaul» about the military service. However, if that album, «Karaul», was a detailed reflection on the difficult military experience, then, for the joint release with Kirill, that experience was only a starting point. In December 2018, Egor recorded two reintegrating loops. One pushed through jamming, clicking, and creaking cassette players; the other—through feedback from a reel-to-reel tape recorder. He usually painstakingly edits the final mix, but this time the desired result came in just a couple of takes. This was the beginning of making «Мелодия». He sent the stuff to Kirill, who processed it through a chain of effects and added some parts of his own.
«Мелодия» consists of melodic loops that seem to have been lost a long time ago and now reappear on the album, breaking through to the listener through layers of distorted sound. This musical process can be interpreted as a story about how to find yourself again, gather from the fragments of experience, try to listen to the present, and, in the endless stream of events, get ahold of something for yourself. Or, even better yet, someone.

These highly collectible pieces offered by Stanislav at Klammklang are so cool I can't begin to compliment him enough. Small batch numbered cassettes in a silk-screened hand crafted paper sleeve ziplock pouches. I purposely did not pick a favorite song here because I love this thing completely. What a nice piece to add to my collection. 10 STAR RATING Michael LoCicero
